And although I am excited for Fall for many reasons, I'm not quite ready for it just yet...
Best of all, it seems Chicago, my new home and my hometown, Scottsdale agree with me too.
This morning jogging along Lakeshore Path, the sun was shining, the leaves were still green, the lake and sky were blue and the temperature was a comfortably beautiful 74 degrees. It's going to be like this the rest of the weekend and once the weekend hits, low 80s are in the forecast.
I'm real excited to have a couple more weeks of summer. I'm going to need Fall to hold off a bit longer and here are my reasons why...
1. Now, I'm a sucker for leather, a good pair of boots, the color olive, and scarves like a lot of young women are. But I'm not quite ready to indulge into fall fashion and the expense. Fall and winter clothing is not something you have the luxury of being frugal about. It doesn't really exist. This time of year always sneaks up on me faster than the last. And this year, I'll need to expand my fall/winter wardrobe now that I'm living in Chicago.
2. It's a known fact that summer's in Arizona are hot. And when they say hot, they mean HOT.
This summer in AZ has been the hottest on record, each year it seems to be getting hotter and hotter. Which means there's nothing to do but stay inside. Yes, there's the occasional, low 100 degree day where you can enjoy being at the lake or laying poolside. However, after living there most of my life, these "activities" get old. And for the first time in all my years of living there, the hot hot heat also managed to take a toll on my health. This meant being cooped up more than the usual summer. Which for someone as gregarious as myself, is torture. So now that I'm in Chicago, I am going to squeeze in every bit of this mild summer weather I can an outside as much as possible.
3. But, to expand on number 2, I do get to head back home to Arizona next weekend. Hell like, three digit temperatures will not be around. Thank God!
4. Lastly, I say no to pumpkin flavored or themed everything. What is with this craze?
Once I'm done with enjoying these last couple weeks of summer, I will welcome Fall with open arms. I haven't experienced a "real fall" since my family lived in Seattle for a couple years. And when that time comes, I'll share why I'm excited for fall (one reason - a killer fall appropriate sangria recipe).
